I am a licensed clinical social worker and hold a doctorate and certification in contemporary psychoanalysis, in addition to a masters degree in public health with a specialization in maternal and child health. My practice encompasses individual adults, adolescent girls, and families. I have been in practice for more than twenty-five years.

Psychotherapy is a highly collaborative process requiring active involvement, honesty, and openness by both therapist and patient.  I seek to provide a safe environment where patients receive the support they need to explore and resolve the obstacles and challenges they face.

My Approach

My approach to treatment is tailored to individual needs. I believe both that understanding one’s past can help resolve issues in the present and that how one thinks influences how one feels. To this end, I draw on psychodynamics as well as cognitive-behavioral (specifically ACT), developmental, humanistic, family systems, and neurobiological theories to assist me in treatment planning.

The length and frequency of treatment are always structured to suit the individual needs of my patients. Coming to therapy more frequently or for a longer period of time does not necessarily indicate more serious psychological problems and may simply reflect a desire for more intensive self-reflection.  Conversely, I am sensitive to financial and time constraints and create treatment plans that minimize these very real obstacles to getting help. I coordinate and collaborate with psychiatrists and other medical professionals my patients may have to ensure optimal care.

I am available to provide consultation for therapists new to private practice and/or couples therapy.
